For as long as I can remember sport has been the biggest and brightest passion in my life. I was lucky enough to not only enjoy sports but also have much success in that area, as a teenager I was regarded as a talented footballer and I have some fantastic memories of that time. Sport and being good at sport defined me as a person. Sadly at the age of 19 I suffered my first of many major sporting injuries. Many of these resulted in surgery which all had very lengthy rehabilitation periods. My aim was always to do what I needed to get back to playing sport at a good level. However the more injuries I got the harder this got, I’m not ashamed to admit but there were some very dark times for me, I felt anger, loneliness and frustration these feelings were hard to overcome. That’s why I follow support the Fortitude Foundation, being able to connect with people who were or had experienced similar injuries would have really helped drag me of feeling so down. I am hoping through this foundation to support others.
